The Philadelphia International Music Festival has expanded opportunities for our participants through our Departments of Outreach and Community Partnerships. Each partnership is dedicated to the individuality of the partnering group. Please put the following links in your address bar for information specific to each organization.
HHSO Youth Concerto Competition (Hilton Head Island, S.C)
The winner is invited to appear as soloist with the Hilton Head Symphony. Students in the Finals are awarded scholarships to attend PIMF based on their ranking in the competition. All applicants receive an honorarium.
Nola Chamber Fest (New Orleans, LA)
Instrumentalists and vocalists are awarded PIMF and Music House Scholarships based on their ranking in the competition. All applicants in the competition are awarded an honorarium to participate in PIMF and Music House.
Northern Neck Orchestra (Kilmarnock, VA)
A soloist is chosen from among the finalists in the Summer’s Festival Concerto Competition to appear on the successive season’s concert series of the NNO. Students are adjudicated by faculty members of the Philadelphia International Music Festival and Maestro Michael Repper, Conductor of the NNO.
Monmouth Symphony Orchestra Goldwasser Concerto Competition (Neptune, NJ)
Finalists in the Goldwasser Concerto Competition are awarded partial scholarships to attend two-week sessions of the Philadelphia International Music Festival.
Ocean City Pops (Ocean City, NJ)
A winner of the Philadelphia International Concerto Competition, held during the summer Festival, is chosen to solo with the Ocean City Pops in Ocean City, New Jersey, “America’s Greatest Family Resort.”
In-house Concerto Competitions
PIMF Bach Double Competition for violinists: Three winners are chosen to partner with a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra, under the baton of Philadelphia Orchestra, Assistant Conductor, Kensho Watanabe
Vivaldi Competition for Cellists
One winner will be chosen to perform a Vivaldi Concerto for cello and violin, under the baton of Maestro Kensho Watanabe. The winner will partner with a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Williamsburg Music Club
The Williamsburg (Virginia) Music Club encourages various musical pursuits throughout the greater Williamsburg community. The Club established and maintains a Grants-in-Aid fund that provides annual distribution of awards to deserving young musicians in the Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown region who participate in the Club’s annual Grants in Aid competition. Award winners are provided matching funds to attend PIMF. Non winners are awarded honorariums to participate in PIMF, whose faculty includes principal players and other members of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
