Auditions

Two Types of Programs. Three Easy Steps.

  • Step 1

Submit required audition materials (see below) via Acceptd, the official online audition platform of the Philadelphia International Music Festival.  The non-refundable application fee is $30.

  • Step 2

Wait for official contact from the PIMF Auditions Team. Audition review usually takes 2-3 weeks. Admission to PIMF is on a rolling basis, so early application is strongly recommended!

  • Step 3

Once accepted, you will be given instructions for a completing a registration for your program. It’s that easy!

  • Step 1

Register online at PIMF.org. Your non-refundable deposit of $250 will be applied to your balance – due at a later date.

  • Step 2

Begin filling out required festival participation forms – links to which will be emailed to your “inbox” upon receipt of registration.

  • Step 3

Submit required audition materials (see below) by April 30th – for placement purposes only.

PIMF’s flagship Symphony Orchestra Program regularly includes up to four orchestra levels. Consequently, it is possible to include in our dynamic summer music program students of all ages and skill levels. Students are not required to submit audition files before registering. Audition files are required for placement purposes only and should be uploaded only after you have registered for the Philadelphia International Music Festival.

Audition Requirements:

  • 5-10 minutes of current, well-prepared solo repertoire.
  • Performances may be accompanied or unaccompanied.
  • For students desiring to place in higher level ensembles, we recommend that audition recordings include two contrasting pieces.
  • Please include scales appropriate to your instrument. Examples below:

The College Audition Preparation Program is open to all high school students. Students are not required to submit audition files before registering. Audition files are required for placement purposes only and should be uploaded only after you have registered for the Philadelphia International Music Festival.

Audition files are required of those students wishing to audition for major singing roles only. Please submit audition files only after registering for the program.

Please note that audition files may be made informally through cell phone or other video methods and should include a minimum of two songs which best represent your abilities. Your presentation may be accompanied or unaccompanied.

Please note: The PIMF Children’s Program is a subset of the flagship Symphony Orchestra Program. For audition requirements, please refer to the “Symphony Orchestra” tab.

Entrance into the Solo Performance Preparation Program is by audition only. It is our most competitive program, and fills to capacity each session. We strongly encourage you to audition early!

  • Audition recordings should include at least two contrasting pieces.
  • Please include scales appropriate to your instrument. Examples below:

The Piano Studies Program at the Philadelphia International Music Festival is an intense piano training program, including up to four private lessons weekly; two piano master classes; daily music educations courses & seminars including music theory, four-hand literature, or sight reading classes; 2-4 hours of daily private practice; and more. Consequently, it is recommended that only intermediate-advanced pianists register for this program.

Entrance into the Piano Studies Program is by audition only.

Audition Requirements: 5-10 minutes of current, well-prepared solo repertoire. We recommend that audition recordings include two contrasting pieces.

  • Masterclass Invitations
  • Private Instructor

Entrance into the Chamber Music Intensive Program is by audition only.

Accepted formats:

Video: MP4, MPEG, MPG, MOV, AVI, WMV, M4V, FLV, WEBM, M2V

Audio: MP3, OGG, M4A, WMA, WAV, AAC, FLAC, AIFF, AIF

Unfortunately, links to audio and video files cannot be accepted. However, if you have a video on YouTube, it can be retrieved by using this resource. You may then upload the video for your audition as normal.

Acceptd is the audition platform for the Philadelphia International Music Festival. Here are step-by-step instructions for submitting your audition:

  1. Visit the Acceptd Auditions Portal.
  2. On the PIMF landing page that comes up, select your program in the first drop-down box to the left.
  3. Select the week(s) you plan to attend from the second drop-down box.
  4. At that point the page will change to “Guidelines” and you can click the green “Apply” button at the bottom of the page.
  5. If you are not already logged in to an Acceptd account, you will then be asked to log in.
    • If you do not yet have an Acceptd account, you may click the words “Sign Up” to create an account.
    • Please note: this is a separate platform and a separate account from the one used for registration via the PIMF website.
    • If you have not used Acceptd before you will need to create a new account.
    • If you do create a new account, it may bounce you back to the homepage and you will need to navigate back to the landing page, choose your program options again, and click the green “Apply” button again.
  6. You will then be directed to fill out a brief form, followed by a second screen where you will upload your audition audio/video, followed by a third screen where you will enter payment information. (Please note: the $30 fee is charged by the Acceptd platform and is non-refundable. This fee is what allows PIMF to process hundreds of annual auditions with efficiency, fairness, and speed.)
  7. Once you submit the audition, a confirmation box should pop up thanking you for your submission. At that point you are all done!
