Submit required audition materials via Acceptd, the official online audition platform of the Philadelphia International Music Festival (a $30 non-refundable application fee will be applied.)

Wait for official contact from the PIMF Auditions Team. Audition review takes 7-14 days. Admission to PIMF is on a rolling basis. Early application is recommended.

  • Step 3

Once accepted, you will be emailed instructions for completing an online registration form. It’s that easy!

Audition Requirements

There are three orchestra divisions at PIMF: Senior Division (designed for student musicians ages 14-19), Young Artists’ Division (for students ages 11 – 13), and Junior Division (for students ages 8 – 10). Auditions are required for acceptance to all three divisions. Please do not register online until your official acceptance letter has been received via email. Acceptance is on a rolling basis and spaces are limited. Early registration is highly recommended. Once all orchestra levels are filled to capacity, certain instruments will no longer be accepted and applicants will be put on a waiting list. 

Audition Requirements:

  • 5-10 minutes of current, well-prepared solo repertoire.
  • Performances may be accompanied or unaccompanied.
  • For students desiring to place in higher level ensembles, we recommend that audition recordings include two contrasting pieces.
  • Please include a minimum of one scale appropriate to your instrument. Examples below:

Entrance into the Solo Performance Preparation Program is by audition only. It is our most competitive program, and fills to capacity each session. We strongly encourage applicants to audition early!

The Piano Studies Program at the Philadelphia International Music Festival is an intense piano training program, including up to four private lessons weekly; daily piano master classes; daily duet classes; daily music educations classes including music theory, composition, theory, and more; and 2-4 hours of daily private practice. Consequently, it is recommended that only advanced-level pianists audition for this program.

Entrance into the Piano Studies Program is by audition only.

Acceptd is the audition platform for the Philadelphia International Music Festival. Here are step-by-step instructions for submitting your audition:

  1. Visit the Acceptd Auditions Portal.
  2. On the PIMF landing page that comes up, select your program in the first drop-down box to the left.
  3. Select the week(s) you plan to attend from the second drop-down box.
  4. At this point the page will change to “Guidelines” and you can click the green “Apply” button at the bottom of the page.
  5. If you are not already logged in to an Acceptd account, you will then be asked to log in.
    • If you do not yet have an Acceptd account, you may click the words “Sign Up” to create an account.
    • Please note: this is a separate platform and a separate account from the one used for registration via the PIMF website.
    • If you have not used Acceptd before you will need to create a new account.
    • If you do create a new account, it may bounce you back to the homepage and you will need to navigate back to the landing page, choose your program options again, and click the green “Apply” button again.
  6. You will then be directed to fill out a brief form, followed by a second screen where you will upload your audition audio/video, followed by a third screen where you will enter payment information. (Please note: the $30 fee is charged by the Acceptd platform and is non-refundable. This fee is what allows PIMF to process hundreds of annual auditions with efficiency, fairness, and speed.)
  7. Once you submit the audition, a confirmation box should pop up thanking you for your submission. At this point you are all done!
