The Adjudication Board at the Philadelphia International Music Festival annually includes some of the most outstanding musicians in the classical world. Past adjudication board members have included Marc Rovetti, Assistant Concertmaster, The Philadelphia Orchestra; Kimberly Fisher, Principal Second Violin, The Philadelphia Orchestra; Hai-Ye Ni, Principal Cello, The Philadelphia Orchestra; Boris Allakhverdyan, Principal Clarinet, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and many others.

PIMF Concerto Competition winner Julian Shively performed as a soloist on May 11th, 2019, with the New York Session Symphony in NYC, conducted by Maestro Benjamin Niemczyk.

ABOUT JULIAN SHIVELY

Julian Shively, a native of Trumbull, CT will perform as soloist with the New York Session Symphony (NYSS) on May 11, 2019 at Broadway Presbyterian Church in New York, NY. This performance is a result of Julian winning the Concerto Competition at the Philadelphia International Music Festival (PIMF) in Bryn Mawr, PA in July 2018.

Benjamin Niemczyk is a conductor, singer and composer of uncommon range. He has performed with Anthony Newman, Hélène Grimaud, Ennio Morricone at Radio City Music Hall and the United Nations General Assembly, John Nelson, Marin Alsop, Harold Rosenbaum, Amy Kaiser, Frank Nemhauser, the Orchestra of St Lukes, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

About Our Competitions

The Philadelphia International Music Festival has been hosting international competitions for over 20 years.  Our repertoire of contests now includes instrumental concerto competitions, piano competitions, ensemble and orchestra competitions.

First and second place winners of each individual competition are awarded a partial scholarship to PIMF, a permanent listing on PIMF’s “Winners’ Corner,” inclusion on the PIMF “Winners’ Circle” on PIMF.org, and an invitation to perform in the annual PIMF Winners’ Recital with Kimberly Fisher, Principal Second Violin of The Philadelphia Orchestra, and other members of The Philadelphia Orchestra. 

The overall competition winner each year is awarded a partial scholarship to PIMF, a permanent listing on PIMF’s “Winners’ Corner,” inclusion on the PIMF “Winners’ Circle” on PIMF.org, an invitation to perform in the annual PIMF Winners’ Recital with Kimberly Fisher, Principal Second Violin of The Philadelphia Orchestra, and other members of The Philadelphia Orchestra, and an opportunity to solo with the New York Session Symphony or other community or professional orchestra.
