Italian native and Philadelphia-based musician, Antonello DiMatteo is an
active performer and educator in the tri-state area. He holds the position of
Principal Clarinet with the Philadelphia Ballet, Reading Symphony Orchestra,
Allentown Symphony Orchestra and Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey.
Antonello is also a regular substitute with The Philadelphia Orchestra, and
has been a regular guest artist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra,
Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Harrisburg
Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared as a soloist with Drexel University
Wind Symphony, East Coast Mandolin Orchestra, Temple University
Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra Popolare Italiana.
An avid chamber musician, Antonello is a member of Artcinia, a leading
organization promoting music and community engagement throughout the
City of Philadelphia. He also can be seen performing with Network for New
Music, Sound Impact, Ellipses Ensemble and other prominent ensembles.
As an eclectic classical and world-music freelancer, Antonello has given numerous concerts across the US, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, performing at world-renowned venues and music festivals. A true musical
innovator, Antonello holds a patent in Electronic Italian Bagpipes from the Italian Department of Economic Development. Beyond his substantial accomplishments as a musician and performer, Antonello has lectured across
Europe and the United States, and currently holds a number of teaching positions at Rowan University, Lehigh University, and St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Antonello obtained both his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees with highest honors from Gaetano Braga Conservatory of Music in Teramo, Italy. After graduation, he continued to refine his musical skills around Europe until he moved to Philadelphia in 2015, where he earned an additional
Master of Music Performance degree from Temple University. His teachers have included Roberto Torto, Giammarco Casani, Sante Centurione, Ricardo Morales, Samuel Caviezel, Paul Demers, Donald Montanaro and Ronald
