Solo Performance Opportunities for PIMF Summer Camp Participants

Solo Events at PIMF

Solo Hours:

These informal concerts are open to all students with performance-ready, memorized pieces. Performers should be confident of the repertoire with accompaniment (if appropriate), as rehearsal time is minimal. Students should have selections ready before their arrival at the festival. These concerts provide wonderful opportunities for students to enjoy the experience of performing and sharing music with others, while encouraging each student to seek high performance standards.

Competitions:

  • Concerto Competition: Winner performs as soloist with New York Session Symphony or other professional or community orchestra

Private Lessons:

Each student musician enrolled in a PIMF program will be given between one to six, one-hour private music lessons (depending on their program option) with a member of our world-class faculty. Extra lessons may be available for purchase pre-festival, based on program enrollment. Students should bring practice scales, a music stand, independent study and repertoire music to each lesson. Students enrolled in PIMF summer music camp programs should be prepared to play both polished and newer repertoire in their private lessons.

Master Classes:

Students of varied levels will be selected by adjudicators reviewing placement auditions to perform in Master Classes presented by members of The Philadelphia Orchestra. Performers with highly polished repertoire will be chosen based not only on advancement, but also on responsiveness and a demonstrated willingness to learn. To be considered for Master Class performance, it is strongly suggested that participants submit an audition by April 30th or earlier.

Note: In addition to these performances, all students will perform with their festival orchestra or solo performance cohort on the PIMF Grand Finale day. Students participating in the optional Chamber program will also perform chamber music at one of two PIMF Chamber Music Concerts.
